With Nintendo set to announce the Switch 2, or whatever it’s called, in just a few months, at least one retailer has already begun selling alleged accessories for it. There are some major unknowns here and some asterisks to be aware of, however.

Chinese retailer Alibaba is now selling screen protectors for the Switch 2, and these screen protectors are larger than what would be required for the current Switch, which is 7 inches for the OLED edition. A previous leak suggested the Switch 2’s screen could be 8 inches. A carrying case bearing the name “Switch 2” is also available to buy on Alibaba, sporting a design that would suggest the Switch 2 will be a similar form factor to the existing model–something that many have theorized already.

Quidditch Champions, the Harry Potter game about the magical sport, will launch September 3, 2024. The news was announced today during Summer Game Fest.

The game will launch that day across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Intriguingly, it’ll be available at launch through PlayStation Plus, but there is no word on Game Pass. Quidditch Champions is priced at $30 USD. For the PlayStation Plus release, subscribers can get the game as part of their membership between September 3-30.

In 2022, longtime collaborators EA and FIFA split up, leading EA’s best-selling FIFA soccer games to rebrand as EA Sports FC. That left FIFA without a video game company to partner with… until now. Konami–whose Pro Evolution Soccer games previously competed with EA’s FIFA titles–has now struck an epsorts deal with FIFA for the FIFAe World Cup.

As announced on Konami’s official site, the company’s eFootball games will be utilized for two different FIFAe World Cup tournaments: one for mobile and one for consoles. Sigourney Weaver has provided an update on Galaxy Quest 2, saying in a new interview that work is now underway to revive the franchise as a TV series. Speaking to Collider, Weaver said the producers were “in the middle of reviving it” when star Alan Rickman passed away, and now plans are in motion to start up again, but don’t get too excited just yet.

Sony has revealed the PlayStation overlay function for PC, a new interface bringing many more PlayStation elements to the platform–starting with Ghost of Tsushima.

What this overlay function does is that it shows you your friends list, Trophies, settings, and your profile from your PlayStation account on your Windows PC. To pull it up, it’s as simple as pressing Shift + F1 shortcut on your keyboard or accessing it through the in-game menu. Steam has a new set of rules for video games sold on its platform, as key art will no longer be allowed to display review scores or award logos from September 1. In an effort to make games on its marketplace clear and as readable for customers, video game key art needs to promote the game and not its critical reception.

There are multiple other reasons for this shift, which range from Steam admitting that its previous rules were vague to the fact that a game’s dedicated Steam page will still be allowed to show off review scores and awards handed out to it.
